    2. China. It won its 100th gold when Zhang Ying beat Kim Hyangi Mi of North Korea in the Table Tennis Women's singles final. In the same edition, Liu Xiang became the first Chinese to win an individual Olympic athletics gold when he won the 110m hurdles event.

    3. The Abdullahs. Ragho Ram Kaul is believed to have converted to Islam in 1722, becoming Shaikh Abdullah. His son and namesake Shaikh Abdullah also founded the National Conference and was instrumental in integration of Kashmir with the Indian Union. His son Farooq, and grandson Omar are ofcourse, very prominent in Kashmiri politics.
